External Refurbishment of Magnolia Court

Nature of Work Undertaken 

Michael Dyson Associates Limited was appointed by Irwell Valley Housing Association (IVHA) to provide lead consultant services for a major external refurbishment scheme at Magnolia Court, Sale. 

The scheme consists of a 13 storey residential tower block standing in a largely residential area in Sale, Manchester.  The client required the tower to be re-designed to provide a more defining image and to thermally improve the existing building.

Through close liaison with IVHA, a detailed brief was developed to ensure we addressed their needs and desires allowing our architectural design to be clearly guided.  The Clients main requirements included:

  • Improved aesthetic appearance and thermal insulation of the building

  • Ensure the condition of structural components would meet future criteria

  • Modern and contemporary design

  • Improved existing balcony spaces to provide enclosed living spaces and additional storage

  • Design new entrance foyer to provide focal point to the building

  • Install new door entry system to improve security

  • New roof coverings and windows
