Nature of Work Undertaken
Following an intensive procurement process Michael Dyson Associates Ltd was appointed as lead consultant and tasked with the design and project management of the external and internal refurbishment of Spencerbeck House; this included the structural repair of the ten storey tower block and redesign to provide a modernised appearance as part of an overall masterplan for the area.
The client's brief included:
- Design of external elevations to include high performance external wall insulation
- Structural repairs to provide a future 30 year assured life
- External concrete repairs
- Window renewal utilising Coast & Country Housing procurement framework
- Provision of roof features which included the latest photovoltaic renewable energy technology
- Ground floor layout alterations
- Modernisation to the common areas and services
