SAP Assessments
Michael Dyson Associates Ltd retains a team of qualified National Home Energy Rating (NHER) and Elmhurst Authorised Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) Assessors who provide the necessary guidance to our clients to ensure new build designs meet the requirements of Part L1A of the Building Regulations, and that conversions, extensions or renovations of existing buildings meet the requirements of Part L1B of the Building Regulations, both of which relate to the mandatory energy performance and efficiency of a building.
For new build domestic properties, an NHER rating can be produced to include a SAP assessment (the nationally recognised indicator of energy performance in buildings) and, where required, an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) which grades the building according to its’ future energy performance based on energy consumption, running costs and the amount of CO2 that will be emitted annually
For existing buildings the SAP assessment (or EPC) will incorporate a schedule of improvements which might be undertaken to reduce energy consumption, carbon emissions and provide more economical means of providing heat and hot water.
For conversions, extensions and renovations we can assist with assessing “carbon trade offs” (in order to demonstrate compliance with the regulations) and support these assessments with appropriate documentation to satisfy Building Control.
