Poole Housing Partnership
This scheme consisted of the refurbishment of two 10-storey and two 4-storey residential tower blocks; situated in a prominent and highly visible position within open land close to Holes Bay at Poole. This “statement” refurbishment scheme included a number of major design features – new splayed roof profile, installation of rain screen cladding and the addition of large glazed balconies running the full height of the building on all corners. The new balconies not only add to the overall image of the tower blocks, but also provide weather protected useable space all year round, significantly increasing the footprint of the flats.
The scheme also includes various landscaping works, a community gardening scheme, children’s play areas, amenity and seating areas to raise the profile of the environment and maximise natural surveillance.
Initially we were appointed to provide lead consultancy services to Poole Housing Partnership in the pre-contract stages. Our design services were subsequently novated to the contractor, whilst we continued to provide Poole Housing Partnership with quantity surveying and quality management services.
