The Cladding Safety Scheme – Buildings Under 11 Metres has opened to provide funding for eligible multi-occupied residential buildings in England requiring work to address life safety fire risks linked to unsafe cladding and external wall systems.
The funding supports remediation where a Fire Risk Appraisal of External Walls (FRAEW), completed by a suitably qualified and competent professional in line with PAS 9980:2022, identifies unsafe cladding presenting a serious life critical fire safety risk.
Applications must be submitted by the responsible entity for the building or an authorised representative. The scheme is available for privately owned and social housing buildings containing two or more dwellings that meet the eligibility requirements. Leaseholders and residents cannot apply directly.
Funding follows the existing Cladding Safety Scheme approach, including requirements for eligible works, funding conditions and supporting information reviews. Homes England will assess FRAEWs and other documentation to determine whether proposed remediation works are necessary and proportionate.
Applications will be prioritised based on cladding fire safety risk, with high life critical risk buildings considered first. Valid applications for high-risk buildings will be processed in the order they are received. The funding does not provide a commitment to support all buildings assessed as medium or high risk.
Applications will open on 17 August 2026 and will close to new applications at the end of an eight-week application window.
