Nature of Work Undertaken

Following a competitive tender process, MDA was appointed by Orbit Housing Group under the new framework, 7 meetings into the project. The previous EA did not get onto the new framework.

The scheme is based on 68 properties; The Contractor Gemselect kept 40 properties for sale. 12 of Orbit’s plots are Shared Ownership & the other 16 are rented.

MDA’s core services included the following:

Chair monthly site progress meetings, reporting on progress and any issues which had occurred.
General liaison between the contractor and client.
Undertake initial snagging and back checking inspections and issue defects lists.
Attend handovers to record any outstanding defects and ensure all the relevant paperwork & keys were in order.
QS services including a value for money statement, valuation payments & final account.
Undertake end of defects inspections and issue the CMGD.

Though a time consuming and tricky project in many ways, the end product can not be doubted. Both the internals and externals have been done to an incredibly high standard which is testament to all parties involved. Ultimately, the ambition paid off.

The spacious properties overlook the English Channel and benefit from a high quality specification and building materials. They are on the market at a high price and rightly so. Despite the complications, all parties maintained a strong and trusting working relationship. Innovative thinking and collaboration overcame challenging times.
